That's why we always recommend that you prioritize high quality above all else when choosing your reel. Children and beginners can of course easily start with one of the cheap reels. Which fishing reel should I choose?
There is a world of difference between different types of fishing reels. It is far from unimportant which reel you use for the individual types of fishing. The two most common types of fishing reels are spinning reels and multi-reels. The spinning reel is also called a fixed-spool reel and comes in different versions. The multi-reel has a different technical structure, which may be preferable for more experienced fishermen in particular. You can read a little about the difference below.
Spinning reel / fixed spool reel
Spinning reels are also known as fixed spool reels. This type of fishing reel is among the most common types of reels for angling. The spinning reel is often relatively easy to work with, which is why it will also be an obvious fishing reel for beginners. You will find both powerful spinning reels suitable for sea fishing, or simpler spinning reels that are smooth-running and suitable for beginners.
The technical structure of the spinning reel is relatively simple, which is why you will quickly be able to figure out how the reel is constructed and works. As mentioned, the simple structure makes spinning reels ideal for those who are about to start fishing. In the spinning reel category, there are different types, based on where they will be used. Examples include sea fishing as mentioned earlier. Another example is UL fishing reels. The difference is found in gearing, line capacity, size and weight, among other things. The spinning reel does not require great finesse, as the reel does most of the work itself. Of course, you can work on the casting technique itself, but for the most part, using a spinning reel is relatively simple.
Multi-reel for fishing
The difference between multi-reels and spinning reels is found, among other things, in the technique. When the handle on a multi-reel is turned, the entire spool follows. This means that there is more space for the fishing line, which is why multi-reels are suitable for fishing at greater depths.
The multi-reel is a bit less beginner-friendly and takes time to get used to. Once you get the hang of it, the multi-reel also offers advantages when fishing, such as the amount of line on the spool and the “feel” while fishing. Like the spinning reel, the multi-reel comes in different versions and types, suitable for different types of fishing - for example, sea fishing.
