The method is passive, as you simply sail around with the bait swimming behind the boat while waiting for a bite. Typically, the boat is powered by a motor, but if the weather is calm, you can get the boat moving by rowing.The rods used for this are typically powerful 8-9 foot casting rods or dedicated trolling rods. Multi-reels are often used. Trolling fishing is considered by many to be advanced and requires that you have the right equipment and a suitable boat for the purpose.

Trolling fishing is a method that is both effective and also a way to scan the water and thus gain insight into where the pike are located.
The baits that are pulled behind the boat are typically artificial baits – either flashes or regular wobblers , which is typical for trolling. The fishing method allows you to fish with several rods at a time.
The baits are separated by placing the rods in rod holders so that the rods extend over both sides of the boat. If you want to separate the baits further, you can use side planers or paravanes that pull the baits out to the side at an angle of about 45 degrees. This way you can fish with 4, 6 or more rods at a time, and the baits have a good space between them, so you fish a large area. Trolling fishing is therefore a very efficient form of fishing.

You can easily sense when there is a bite as the rod closes and the line is pulled off the reel. In addition, if you are fishing with a multi-reel with a rattle, you can hear when there is a bite as the rattle makes a loud sound when the line is pulled off the reel.
There are various aids, such as lead weights and various other things to make the bait sink deeper than normal.
You can also use downriggers, which are one of the tools that characterize trolling. With downriggers you can fish exactly at the depth you want. This technique is extremely effective, since using regular trolling it is not possible to get bait 20, 30, 40 or 50 meters down.
When you fish with downriggers, the clamp will be released when there is a bite, thus creating direct contact between rod and fish.
