Pike fishing

Pike fishing is an exciting fishery. The big fish ensure that you get a fight to the line, and you therefore need some strong pike tackle to take down a pike. Many people forget that the pike has very sharp teeth. A regular line will therefore often not only withstand the pike's bite, and you will end up losing many catches if you do not take this into account in your choice of leader. You must therefore remember to mount a strong pike leader in front of your bait before you start pike fishing.

Long-nose pliers are also an essential part of pike fishing. With them you can reach right into the pike's mouth when you need to unhook the hook. Many people prefer to hold the gill cover when prying the hook out, as it gives a good grip.

There are many different opinions on which bait is best for pike fishing. Whether you prefer large flashes, spinners, wobblers or jigs is often entirely up to the individual. However, it always depends on where you are fishing for the large predatory fish. However, we have very good experience with real small fish such as shells, herring and small mackerel. So that the bait fish does not suffer unnecessarily, you should always kill it before using it as bait.

Where do you fish for pike?

You can find pike in almost all lakes and streams. It was once thought that the reason for this great spread was that when the pike spawned in the early spring, the small sticky eggs would stick to ducks and swans as they frolicked in the shallow water. And when the birds flew to another lake, the pike fry would grow there.

Although it's a nice theory, some experts believe it's not possible. Instead, they believe that the pike swam to the other lake when the meadow between the two lakes was flooded. Or that they came to the lakes because anglers released them.
