End fittings come in many shapes and colors
End tackle is probably the most colorful part of your fishing equipment and comes in many different forms. There are countless options, but to keep things clear, we will primarily talk about blinkers. They are used as end tackle for both spinning fishing, bombarda, put & take fishing and trolling. Due to their versatility, blinkers are very popular.
Finishing materials from Danish manufacturers
It is important to support our local manufacturers of end gear. That is why we have a large selection of end gear from Danish manufacturers. These are characterized in particular by their high quality and good craftsmanship. Each blink is with Danish handwork and fantastic properties with airbrush. See, among others. the beautiful Danish blinks from the brands Otto Poulsen, OGP, MTN, JK Paint and Jack Rapid.
Tackle for different types of fishing
It is important that you buy tackle that suits the type of fishing that you primarily spend time on. This is especially important because the tackle is very similar to each other. For example, tackle or flashes for bombarda fishing and spinning fishing are very similar. However, flashes for spinning fishing are a bit special. There are 4 types; coastal flashes, through-feeders, salmon flashes and micro flashes. You will also find that many of these products can be found in the Put & Take category. The flashes that are used for normal spinning fishing often weigh between 10-40 grams and therefore cast far on a normal spinning rod. Sometimes fish can be very shy, and therefore it may be necessary to fish with micro flashes, these flashes must either be cast with a bombarda float or on a UL rod (ultra light).
Get a handle on the end gear: Straight, S-shaped or round blinkers?
The shape of the lure can make a big difference in how it swims in the water. There are long, round and S-shaped types. In addition, the shape and weight of your lure also have an impact on how quickly it should be spun.
An S-shaped lure has a good casting distance and can be spun in more slowly due to the swinging movement in the water. S-shaped or 'zig-zag' lures are good for catching sea trout.
Finally, we also mention round flashes or spoon-shaped flashes, as most people would probably call them. These often have a very low weight and are therefore often used for Ultra Light fishing (UL). These UL flashes can also be used for fishing with bombarda and will certainly make sure that the fish moves. UL fishing is the ideal combination of patience, challenge and fun. UL fishing is not for everyone, however. It is difficult and relatively expensive. Maybe you have almost all your UL equipment in place - except flashes. If you want to give it a go, FTM has made a whole new series '' Bilg Spoon UL flashes '', which we recommend.
Finishing and season: Choose your flashing color according to the season
Glitter comes in every color on the color scale. From the most eye-catching glitters in fluorescent colors like yellow and green, to the more neutral colors like silver and copper. Now you're probably asking, when do I use a white glitter and when a black one?
If you are unsure about which color of lure to choose, you can basically look at the temperature and the time of year you want to go fishing. You want to find a lure color that blends well with the color of the fish, but at the same time has enough contrast with the water and lighting conditions.
In fact, almost all lures consist of at least 2 colors, with silver and white usually being used all year round. If you are fishing in the spring, we recommend choosing a green one. If the temperature is still a little behind, you can also successfully use red and black. A rule of thumb: The colder it gets, the more visible the color of your lure should be. That is why red and orange lures are often seen in the fall and are replaced with green or yellow in the spring.
If you want to choose your flashes strategically, you can also use flashes in natural color combinations. For example green & silver and green & copper. It is clear that some fish need to be 'tricked' a little more to get them to bite. If they see your flashes from a long distance, they also have more time to think about whether to bite or not.
If you are mostly into night fishing, you should definitely use black lures, as the contrast with the sky is the greatest and therefore most visible.
An important part of the tackle: the fish hooks
Like other tackle, fishing hooks should also be suitable for the type of fish you want to catch. If you use the wrong hook, you risk losing your catch or simply never catching anything. For some types of fish, it also makes sense to buy a hook that consists of several hooks, so you can catch more fish at the same time.
