Fly fishing
Fly fishing is considered by many to be a very entertaining form of fishing. However, as with all other fishing, it requires a lot of practice before you master the casting technique.
The special thing about fly fishing is the way in which, with practice, you can learn to present the fly perfectly to the fish. Fly fishing can be slow, incredibly lively and seductive.
Fly fishing requires a lot of space for the backcast. That's why you often see people using smaller boats and sailing alone when using fly rods. Float rings, pontoon boats and smaller inflatable boats are obvious choices, as you can easily move around in these lightweight boats.
If you are completely new to fly fishing, the jungle of equipment can seem overwhelming. As a starting point, the fly rod is your most important choice. Here you need to find one that suits you and your needs. If you are completely at a loss, you are always welcome to contact our experienced staff who can advise you.
In addition to the fly rod, you will need a fly reel, which again must fit your rod and your needs. There is a difference in how much line a reel can hold. Therefore, the size of the reel also depends on what you are fishing for and what setup you want.
A fly line must be attached to your reel, where a leader must be attached to the fly line. You also need a backing, which is a braided line that sits inside the spool. For fly fishing, between 50 and 200 meters of backing are used, depending on the type of fishing.

Many different flies are used depending on what you are fishing for, where you are fishing and what time of year it is. The choice of fly can be a personal preference, as there are many different types. We recommend that you bring a fly box with several different flies on every fishing trip. This way you have the opportunity to assess which fly works best on the day. These fly boxes are also good for keeping the wet used flies separate from the dry ones on the way home. When the wet flies are kept by themselves in their own fly box, it is only these flies that need cleaning when you get home.
As with all equipment, taking care of it will extend its lifespan. We therefore recommend that you always clean your equipment before putting it away.
