What is Bombarda fishing?
Bombarda fishing is one of the most widely used put & take fishing methods today. It is a form of float fishing where you fish with a bombarda float rather than traditional floats. The aerodynamic shape of the bombarda float makes it possible to cast even further than with traditional float fishing. The good thing about bombarda fishing is that it can be done anywhere, but most people choose to go on a bombarda fishing trip at Put & Take lakes.
Bombarda fishing equipment is made of elegant Italian design, which has made it possible to develop unique fishing methods that are perfectly suited to the individual angler. For example, with fishing gear from Bombarda you can decide exactly what depth you want to fish at and thus fish more targetedly for specific fish.
How is bombarda fishing done?
Bombarda fishing is done in several different ways. For example, you can try both active and passive fishing with a bombarda. There is also a distinction between floating bombarda fishing and fishing with a sinking bombarda. In addition, it can be done anywhere, both on lakes, rivers, streams and on the coasts of the sea, so it is incredibly easy to get started. The fishing gear is also developed so well that it provides the best opportunities for every fisherman, regardless of level, to get a good catch.
Passive and active fishing with bombarda floats
Fishing with a bombarda float can be done passively or actively. Regardless of which method you choose, it is important that the line is cast into the water with a long and soft cast. It is also important that the line is tightened before the float hits the water. You should therefore cast the line out and start tightening it when the float is approx. 4-5 meters from hitting the water. Tighten the line by placing a finger on the spool or on the line.
After the line is tightened and the raft is thrown into the water, you can choose between active and passive bombarda fishing. With passive bombarda fishing, the fishing rod is placed on the ground or behind some rocks. However, passive bombarda fishing is only for fishing with bait such as worms, powerbait and the like. These can be used to catch trout, sturgeon or carp, among other things.
When fishing actively with a bombarda, you are actually doing a combination of active and passive bombarda fishing. Here, the line is cast out and tightened, after which you wait 1-2 minutes before reeling in, so that the bombarda raft has time to sink. However, it is important that the reeling in is slow and preferably with breaks.
Fishing with floating bombarda floats
When fishing for bombarda, different types of bombarda floats are used depending on the fish you want to catch. Some floats are buoyant and others sink quickly. As the name suggests, the floating bombarda floats will float on the surface of the water. These are a good choice if the goal is to catch trout, sturgeon or carp, and if powerbait is used. In order not to scare the fish away, a very long leader of at least 2 meters is also used.
Bombarda fishing with sinking bombarda floats
Fishing with sinking bombarda floats is smart because you can choose exactly how far down the float should sink, thus increasing your chances of catching exactly the fish you want to catch. There are several different types of sinking bombarda floats, which sink more or less into the water. The light sinking bombarda floats sink only 10–20 cm, but you can also get floats that sink 1-2 meters, 4 meters or even more.
What do I need for bombarda fishing?
Bombarda rod
Bombarda fishing rods must be long so that you can cast the line far into the water. Therefore, a good bombarda rod is longer than 9-10 feet, but preferably 12 feet. Some of the fishing rods also have an active tip, i.e. a soft tip, which is smart if you are going to fish with powerbait and floating bombarda floats. This means that you can feel the bite from a fish before the fish can, so you can have time to turn the hook over. If, on the other hand, you are going to fish with sinking bombarda floats, it is better to have a stiffer fishing rod of 9-12 feet. At Fluer.dk we have some of the best bombarda fishing rods from brands such as Præsten, Savage Gear, Westin, Sportex and Quantum Magic Trout.

To protect the knot between the loop and hook or at the swivel, you can add luminous soft beads. Many fishermen also choose to buy float stops, which are perfect for hanging flies, float stops and loopers, so you don't lose them if the knot comes undone. Some fishermen also experience that the leader gets tangled in the bag, but this can easily be avoided with a TroutLook rig tube.
