Many of our sea trout flies are tied with live materials such as marabou, raccoon, opossum and plenty of flash.

Among the salmon flies, the zonker is a particular hit, as it is perfectly suited to the slow Danish waters.

There are many different preferences within both salmon flies and sea trout flies. Many people therefore experiment with tying their own flies. If you want to get into fly tying, you can find everything you need.what do you need for this.

Belief is closely connected to fishing. The belief that you are fishing with the right fly, whether it is salmon or sea trout, has a great impact on your fishing. No matter how many fish your neighbor has caught on a red fly, it will not work for you if you believe mostly in a black and yellow fly.

 

Very few Danish rivers have enough current speed for you to just cast out and let the current do the rest. Often you have to add some life to the fly yourself.

The magical salmon fishing

The large salmon is overwhelming – beautiful and perfectly formed. Catching and seeing such a fish is an experience of a lifetime. Salmon, and not least large salmon, are associated with a certain respect and magic. When salmon fishing is discussed in fishing circles, there are some magic numbers associated with it - among them is the number 20. All salmon fishermen dream of landing a salmon weighing 20 kilos.

But catching a Danish salmon on a fly is also high on the wish list of many anglers. Weather and wind naturally have an influence on the success of the catch. Normal water flow and a good wind from the west or southwest are good criteria for getting a salmon on the hook. We advise against fishing for salmon when there is an easterly wind, as this usually contributes to poor fishing.

The best time of day to fish for salmon is either the first 30 minutes after the sun hits the water surface or between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. At dusk, there is also a high probability that the salmon will be willing to take a bite.

Favorite salmon fly of course varies from person to person. In the early spring we see a great deal of variation in what people prefer as their favorite salmon fly. But if it is cloudy, early or late in the day, a zonker fly with a pop of color can be the perfect choice.

If you dream of catching the salmon of your life, here are a few tips for you. Fish as much water as possible. Cast to a spot and move a few meters further before sending the fly towards the water again. Salmon fishing requires some of your gear, and it is important that you are fully equipped.
