Co-fishing
Cod fishing, in its simplest form, means fishing with natural bait. Such as worms, corn, maggots, bread or bait fish. All fish, both predatory and peaceful, can be caught on some form of natural bait. Unlike jigging, streamer and spinning fishing, there are no imitations that are intended to imitate prey. In cod fishing, the bait is the real thing – something that can be seen, smelled and eaten.
Usually when we talk about mede fishing, we are talking about freshwater fishing for peaceful fish. The peaceful fish – carp, roach, crucian carp, tench, bream and roach – have all got their nicknames because the majority of their food consists of small animals, snails, crayfish or plant parts.
The Mede fishery offers a variety of different fishing methods, so there is something for everyone.
How do I get started?
Cod fishing doesn't require a lot of equipment. It is often associated with stories from grandparents who could fish with a bamboo stick, a line, a single hook and some worms that had just been dug up. They would then lie on their stomachs on the jetty and fish for shells or other peaceful fish. Today, however, fishing is often associated with a little more equipment, which has made it a little easier to handle. But if you are into the completely authentic cod fishing, you can easily get started.
As you improve your technique, you will gradually find out which bait, food, tackle and methods increase your chances of catching fish at your fishing spot.
The choice of fishing spot is always best when it is made with care. The different fish species always have their preferred places to live and feed. Where the fish are also depends on currents, wind and weather. It is usually good to fish for peaceful fish 1-3 meters from shore, this can of course vary. Normally you fish your bait so that it lies on the bottom. If you don't get any bites with this technique, you can always start experimenting with fishing it at other depths.
The range of bait for mede fishing is nothing short of enormous. Some of the best and most classic baits are worms, maggots, pupae, canned corn and bread. What all of these baits have in common, which have caught lots of fish over time, is that they are cheap and work in any water.
