Description
The Whiting Silver 1/2 Cape is a premium selection of genetic dry fly hackle, cultivated and refined over more than 50 years by pioneering experts such as Harry Darbee and Andy Miner. This half cape features feathers from roosters selectively bred for excellent dry fly hackle characteristics including outstanding barb quality, quill structure, turning, and web freeness—ideal for creating exceptional hackle collars.
Originating from the early breeding efforts of Henry Hoffman in the 1960s and further enhanced by Dr. Thomas Whiting’s expertise in poultry science, these hackle feathers offer superior genetic quality. Whiting Farms expanded its offerings by incorporating multiple genetic lines, broadening color ranges, and developing unique fowl suitable for various fly tying applications including saltwater and steelhead. The grading system uses an Olympic medal standard to guide tiers based on feather length, hook size range, and the number of flies that can be tied from each pelt.

No rush or rush
Despite being busy with many orders, due to wild prices, I received my 3rd order for May/June today without any errors or defects. Since some of the items I had ordered were sold out, I was contacted by Rene, who I assume is partly a warehouse worker for Fluer, and together we found a good alternative.
