Description

These locking swivels are a must in your tackle box when you want to change bait quickly , avoid line twists and ensure a stable connection between line/leading and tail tackle. The nickel-plated surface makes them particularly suitable for saltwater fishing , but they are equally useful for sea and put & take fishing.

What are swivels with locks used for?

  • Quick changes between flashes, wobblers, spinners, spinners and tackles – without retying.
  • Reduces line twist when spinning bait and when spinning in currents and waves.
  • Flexible setup for both leader and direct mounting on the main line (depending on your setup).

When and how do you use them?

Use swivels with a lock when you are actively fishing and changing bait often – for example when you are searching a stretch of the coast, trying different colors/weights in put & take, or when you are switching between tackles at sea.

  1. Tie the swivel to the main line or leader with a strong knot (e.g. improved clinch or palomar).
  2. Open the lock, attach your end tackle (blinker/wobbler/tackle) and close the lock completely.
  3. For rotating baits: position the swivel so that it can “take” the rotation and minimize twist in the line.
  4. Always check the lock before casting and after fishing – especially after contact with seaweed/stones or hard hits.

Size guide – which size is right for your fishing?

Choose size according to bait, load and fishing method. As a rule of thumb: the rougher the fishing and the heavier the tackle, the larger the size.

Overview: sizes, number and use

  • Easy put & take / sea: small sizes for discreet presentation and easy end gear.
  • Coastal: medium size for coastal lures and wobblers where salt water and wear require robustness.
  • Sea: large sizes for tackle and heavy load from depth, current and larger fish.

Tip: If in doubt, choose a size up to coastal/ocean – this gives a better margin, especially in rough weather, with strong currents and when fishing with heavier bait.
